Luminita Simon

Luminita “Lumi” Simon-Popa passed away unexpectedly on the evening of January 22nd, 2022 at Weiss Hospital in Chicago, leaving a void in the hearts of many. She was preceded in death by her parents, Niculina and Valeriu Popa. She is survived by her sister Steluta, her brother Liviu, nephews Eddie & Nicolas and countless friends.

Luminita was born in Cluj-Napoca, Romania on December 28, 1967. She studied Communication and Public Relations in Bucharest. She had a very successful career as a network director for Oriflame where she led a team of thousands. She moved to Chicago in 2011 to be closer to her sister and nephew. In the United States, Lumi had a passion for advertising European products and services, as well as remaining very involved in the Romanian community and culture, both here and at home. Whether it was being on the Nasul TV show, hosting a talk on her own platform, being on the panel of Diaspora or many other platforms, she fought for human and civil rights. 

Luminita's kindness, laughter and energy will be deeply missed by family and friends.
