Alexander Michael Ilija Kulacic

Alexander “Alex” Kulacic, born May 20th, 1993, passed away unexpectedly on April 5th, 2026. He leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and friends who will forever remember his humor, loyalty, and unmistakable presence. Though stubborn at times — and never afraid to speak his mind — Alex had a kind soul that showed itself in the ways he cared for others, the generosity he offered without hesitation, and the soft spot he carried for animals, especially his beloved dog, Schatzi.

Born to Susan Shiozaki and Andjelko Kulacic, Alex grew up surrounded by family who cherished him. He is survived by his brother Ethan, his sister Kimi, stepsister Tatjana Matovic, his grandmother Katalin Kulacic, his stepmother Milka Kulacic, and his aunt Anica Kulacic. He also leaves behind many cousins with whom he shared countless memories: Evan Shiozaki, Preston Dent, Elizabeth Neary, Conor Shiozaki, Hana Shiozaki, Travis Keyton, and Elizabeth Keyton. His aunts and uncles — Kathy Kulacic, Jon Shiozaki, Mark Shiozaki, Patricia Shiozaki, and Philip Shiozaki — will remember him with enduring love.

Alex is preceded in death by his grandparents Emi Jane Shiozaki, Masaru Shiozaki, and Illija Kulacic, and we take comfort in imagining him reunited with them now.

Alex loved sports, cracking jokes, and making the people around him laugh. His sarcasm was legendary, but so was his capacity for kindness. He cared deeply — even when he didn’t always say it out loud — and those who truly knew him felt that care in a thousand small ways.

A visitation will be held at Benson’s Funeral Home in Chicago this Saturday from 4-6:30pm with the service starting at 6:30pm. Family and friends are invited to come share memories, laughter, and love as we honor Alex’s life.

In lieu of memorial tree plantings, and in honor of Alex’s love for animals, the family invites you to support a local animal shelter or rescue of your choice.
