Arnold Evia Obituary

On the early morning of September 12, 2021, Arnold Cabanes Evia passed away at the age of 74. He was surrounded by his loved ones at AMITA Health Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago at the time of his passing.

Arnold was born in Daet, Camarines Norte to Roman and Maria Evia as the seventh of eight children. Arnold loved music. He was a big fan of the Beatles and Elvis. He enjoyed playing the guitar as well as singing. He loved not only watching various sports but also played tennis and basketball. He entered college with a basketball scholarship and graduated with an education degree. He loved to travel, and organized many road trips inviting many families. He loved to take pictures to capture every cherished moment with his family and friends, and his smile was one that you could not forget. He had a positive outlook on life and was always optimistic. He cared very much for family, and was always willing to provide the best for them. He loved to teach his children. He was generous in his love for family and friends. He always puts the needs of others before his own.

Towards the end of his life, he enjoyed taking Chad and Happy (the family dogs) out for walks and treated them as his own children. He enjoyed exploring nature with his wife, Florida, by taking walks around neighborhood parks and Lake Shore Drive. He was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Mercy church, and was a devout Catholic. He can be heard doing karaoke and strumming the guitar around the house at random times of the day. He enjoyed gardening and caring for plants. He was a lifelong worker, and always found something to do around the house even after retirement. He didn’t let his age or his health be an excuse for idle hands. He was a strong, independent, hardworking, and compassionate selfless man, and his life story is a testament to this.

A loving husband to Florida M Evia. Proud father to his only daughter Flory Ann M Evia, and sons, Arnold M Evia Jr., Michael A Cabaltica-Evia, and Ronald I C. Evia. Devoted brother to Gracita Evia Macaraan. Grandfather to Payton S Cabaltica, Annabel M Cabaltica, Sophia Evia, and Talon Evia. Affectionate uncle to many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Sister Leticia C. Evia, Onofre Evia Sr., Jaime Evia, Antonio Evia, Rogelio Evia, Herminia Evia Vista.

If you were his life-long friend, you already know who you are and how Arnold felt about you. He enjoyed being with people and created wonderful memories. He leaves this world with a lasting legacy that positively impacted his family and friends. He will be remembered and missed dearly.
