Evelyn Mae Carlson was born on June 12, 1925 in Chicago, IL
and went home to glory on November 24, 2024, at the age of 99.
Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, grandmother,
great-grandmother, and friend. Evelyn was an only child and grew
up on the south side of Chicago. After graduating from Harper
High School, she worked at the Chicago Stock Yard and later at
the Baptist General Conference. Evelyn met her husband, Melvin,
at Bethany Beach in Sawyer, Michigan. Shortly after Melvin
returned from the war, they married on April 6, 1946 and made the north side of Chicago their
home. They were also longtime residents of Bethany Beach and spent their summers there.
They had four children: Keith, Linda, Brian, and David. They also cared for Chris Kroell for the
first five years of his life.
Evelyn loved the Lord and was an active member at Edgewater Baptist Church and sang
on Sundays regularly. She was also a frequent visitor at Brynford Bible Church.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Werner Spike and Alice Reed, husband
Melvin, and son Keith. Evelyn is survived by 3 children, Linda (Jack) Davidson, Brian (Gail)
Carlson and David (Molly) Carlson; 7 grandchildren, Eric and Nathan Weber, April Carlson,
Bridget (Luis) Aguado, Patricia (Tim) Geraty, Seth and Sarah Carlson; and 6
great-grandchildren, Kylie Carlson, Noah, Josiah, and Hannah Aguado, Liam Weber, and Eloise
