Evelyn Krantz, age 98, of Rockford,IL went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus
Christ, on December 24, 2023. She was born on October 13,1925 to Walter and Eva Guenther
in Port Huron, Michigan. Beloved wife of the late Henry; loving mother of David (the late
Romilda) Krantz, Wesley (Judith) Krantz and Larry (Kathy) Krantz; devoted grandmother of
Carolyn (Jason) Sunkel, Stefanie (Nicholas) Czosnyka, Melinda Krantz and Russell Krantz; dear
great-grandmother of Joshua and Kaitlyn Sunkel and Abigail and Samantha Czosnyka.
As a young girl, she moved with her family to Madison, Wisconsin where she lived until
completing high school. She enjoyed participating in a variety of sports. Her favorite subject in
school was music. She sang duets with her sister, Joyce, on radio programs and in their church
choir. After high school, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and attended Chicago Bible School
and became a member of Philadelphia Church. There she joined the church choir and
became part of a ladies trio. That is where she met her future husband, Henry. They were
married on May 4, 1946. In August of 1999, she moved to Fairhaven Christian Retirement
Center in Rockford, Illinois. She reunited with some old friends and made many new ones.
She joined the bell choir and sang in their chapel services. She enjoyed watching baseball on
television and was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, who she affectionately called “my
cubbies”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Guenther and Eva Richardson; step-
mother, Grace Guenther; husband, Henry; brother, Walter Guenther; sister, Joyce Seppo and
daughter-in-law, Romilda Krantz.
Burial will be private at Ridgewood Memorial Park in Des Plaines, Illinois.
