Fernando Rivera

Fernando Rivera of Chicago passed away on March 3rd, 2023 at the age of 87. He was born in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico on June 22nd, 1935 to Julia Pagan and Bautista Rivera. He moved from Puerto Rico to New York before settling in Chicago in 1970 with his wife and children.

Fernando is succeeded by his wife of 63 years, Cristina Garcia Rivera, his 3 children Fernando Rivera, Elizabeth Rivera Arroyo, and Edgardo Rivera and his 8 grandchildren. Beloved by many Fernando was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend to many. He had a warm smile and was quick to make a joke. He loved the Cubs and never met a buffet he wasn’t a fan of. He will forever be missed and always remembered.
