It is with deep regret to inform you of the recent passing of Giovanni Matthew Nuñez, beloved husband of MaryJo Reyes, devoted father of GianCarlo and Matéo; dear son and youngest child of Luz and the late Edward Nuñez; loving brother of Antóinette (Wil Calicdan), Jéan-Piérre (Margaret), and Francis Hénri (Nathalie); fond and fun uncle to Catarina, Sofia, Adam Calicdan, Violetta, Isadora Nuñez and Laila and Theo Nuñez. He also leaves behind extended family of aunts, uncles, dear cousins, other nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and numerous friends too many to list.
Giovanni was born in Chicago on September 25th, 1976 and attended St. Jerome Parochial School, Lane Tech High School and DePaul University where he majored in History and Pre-Law and obtained a Bachelor of Science in History and Liberal Arts in 2004.
He established a successful career in the Market Research industry working at International Sports Management, Inc.; Schlesinger Group and Connected Research & Consulting, LLC serving last as Senior Project & Logistics Manager.
An avid sports fan to his Chicago teams and truly a hands on and devoted father, nothing brought him more joy than to coach for his two sons teams; Gompers Strikers Baseball, Queen of Angels Boys Basketball and Niles Travel Basketball Leagues.
Also very active in the community, especially in his sons' school and their parish church up until the very end, it was not uncommon to see him in attendance assisting at any school, sports or parish events. He truly loved being of any service to his community always with the center core of love and dedication to his family. His positive demeanor, unwavering love of God and simple kind-hearted soul, along with his signature smile, will truly be missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 9th from 4:00 pm - 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 8:00 pm. Monsigner James T. Kaczorowski and Fr. Jason Molave will preside over the Requiem Mass on Tuesday, December 10th at 10 am. Both will be held at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church, 2330 W. Sunnyside Church, Chicago. Interment will immediately follow services at MaryHill Catholic Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles.
