Greta Ann Anderson, 81, of Northbrook, Illinois died peacefully at Glenbrook Hospital on Friday, May 8, 2026. Born on March 27, 1945 to Oliver and Greta Englund, Greta spent her childhood years in both California and Florida and attended high school in Ft. Lauderdale. She later moved to Chicago where she met and married the love of her life, Warren Anderson. They spent the first few years of their marriage in Hawaii, then 45 years in Illinois and 9 years in Wisconsin before moving to Northbrook in 2025.
Greta was a devoted wife and mother, dedicating herself to creating a loving, beautiful home for her family. Cooking and welcoming family and friends into that home were some of her favorite things to do. She often tried new recipes, and the few times dishes didn't quite measure up to her usual standard, Warren, always the diplomat, would assure her that she had so many other good recipes. She loved spending time at Stormy Lake all year round. Her travels included trips to Sweden, Norway, England, Germany, and Israel. She treasured her friends and was part of both a birthday club and a craft group that met monthly for years. She attended church faithfully and was involved in many capacities, including Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study and started a kids' program called Kids of the Kingdom. Her faith was very important to her, and she spent hours in her "war room" reading God's Word and lifting loved ones up in prayer.
Survived by her husband, Warren Anderson; daughters Lynda (Phillip) Ostlund, Lisa Anderson; grandchildren Emma Ostlund, Zachariah Ostlund, Nathaniel Ostlund; and siblings Steve Lobacz, David (Vicki) Lobacz, Tom (Yolanda) Lobacz, Jeff Lobacz, and Judy McLear. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Dennis Englund.
A memorial service celebrating Greta's life will take place on Saturday, May 16 at Village Church of Lincolnshire, 201 N. Riverwoods Rd. Lake Forest, with visitation at 10:00 and a service at 11 :00, followed by a lunch reception.
