Joseph or “Kuya JC” as what his mom and 9-year old brother called him was born in the Philippines on Christmas’Eve, December 24,2004. Joseph as the firstborn baby, first grandchild and first great grandchild especially on his maternal side was deeply favored and loved dearly by his huge family in the Philippines.
For the past decade that he lived in Chicago, Joseph was described by his girlfriend, close friends and teachers as someone who is funny, positive, very smart, humble, loving and polite. He was a consistent honor student at Patrick Henry Elementary School.
To his own family, “Kuya JC” was a loyal, caring, dependable, mature, authentic, strong, very protective and an empowering soul.
Joseph might be a man of few words but he was definitely confident recording his rap music in his room. During Joseph’s funeral, it was heartwarming to hear affirmations from friends and even strangers on how Joseph was very pleasant, inclusive and welcoming to them.
Joseph/JC was definitely outgoing.
He liked being with friends playing basketball, skateboarding, swimming, biking, and going to Six Flags during summer breaks. He treasured his friends so much that he would include them in his family trips to Wisconsin Dells every summer.
Joseph’s rich multicultural encounter to people and culture has influenced his appreciation to Filipino, Chinese, Japanese, American, Italian, and Latino food. He loved adobo, Filipino-style spaghetti, pansit, lumpia, tacos, tamales, burrito, sushi, lobster, etc. His favorite restaurants were New China Buffet and Olive Garden.
Before his tragic passing away, he was so excited to get a job, have his driver’s license, get his own car and promised to help out his beloved family.
Joseph is survived by his mom and stepdad Lanie and David and his younger siblings, Kairos and Savannah.
Joseph’s public viewing took place on Sunday, October 10th at 3pm @Benson’s Family Funeral Home and funeral mass followed on Monday, October 11th at 10am at Our Lady of Mercy. Private cremation was already done and his burial/entombment will be privately and exclusively attended by his family and his closest friends in a Catholic Cemetery.
His family requests for your continued prayers for his eternal rest and for you to write your beautiful memories and share photos of him on his tribute wall.
Farewell Kuya JC, We Love You and Miss You So Much! ‘Til We Meet Again. Rest in Peace Kuya.❤️
