Kathy Nicolopoulos Obituary

Kathy Nicolopoulos, a paragon of selflessness and kindness, passed away in Chicago, IL, on October 27, 2023, at the age of 69. Born in the vibrant landscapes of Greece on April 15, 1954, to her loving parents Christos and Evanthia Veremis, she later became the cherished wife of Dino Nicolopoulos. Her spirit was woven with threads of Greek heritage and Midwestern values, resulting in a captivating and harmonious blend that is remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

More than anything, Kathy treasured the precious moments with her family. This includes her siblings, George Veremis, Litsa Rounis, and Joanne Grigoriou with their respective spouses Olympia, Harry, and Thanos. As well as her children, Dimitri Nicolopoulos, Chris Nicolopoulos and his wife Pamela, Elena Nicolopoulos, Evelyn Hatziagelou and her husband Harry. In addition to her brother and sisters, Kathy also leaves behind her much-loved grandchildren: Katerina, Lucia and Dean Nicolopoulos, and Stamatis Hatziagelou.

Known for her nurturing nature, Kathy had an unmatchable love for children. She often spent her time caring for her grandchildren, treating them with the same love and affection as she did her own. This quality extended beyond her family and to other's children, providing them with the comfort and security that only a loving figure like Kathy could give. It was this trait that truly embodied her nature and made her the heart of her family and her community.

Throughout her lifetime, her generous heart welcomed everyone into her home, filling it with hearty laughter, and tantalizing aromas from her kitchen. Her exceptional ability to create an ambiance of warmth and love will be missed by all. It is a testament to her spirit that even in her absence, the sound of her laughter and the memory of her delicious meals still linger, bringing a sense of comfort and love to everyone who had the gift of experiencing it.

Kathy radiated a warmth and love that enriched the lives of all who knew her. She was the foundation of her family, providing a sense of comfort and security to those closest to her. Her love for life and her family was powerful and unwavering, inspiring everyone to approach each day with a constant drive to make the most of it.

Although Kathy’s physical presence is no longer with us, her impeccable character leaves an indelible mark that continues to inspire. She will be missed dearly, but her demonstration of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Kathy’s story is not one of sorrow but of celebration - celebrating the life of a woman that was dedicated to the happiness of others and loved by all. Her spirit will forever be remembered, cherished, and honored, and will continue to shine brightly even in her absence.
