Obituary
She answered her Lord and Savior's call to go with him to her eternal home on Monday, July 24, 2023. Following a short stay in the hospital, she returned home in the care of hospice, who comforted and treated her accute cancer during her final days. Born March 16, 1928, in her family home on Cotton Hill, in Lynchburg, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband David Shelton; parents Mary & Hollie Maddox Sr; brothers Hollie Jr, William, & Penn Maddox; sisters Nellie Clements & Christine Hammock; and granddaughter Kim Pieper. She is survived by daughter Sheila Hartung (Bill Tyda); granddaughter Lisa Tyda (Neil); grandson David Tyda ( Lauren); great-granddaughters Noa Rufer (Kevin) & Samantha Pieper; sister Mildred Power; and many nieces and nephews from the Maddox and Shelton family. Madeline and David arrived in Chicago on Labor Day 1955, where they remained until their passing. No services were held, and charitable donations in her memory are welcomed.
