Margaret Ercoli (née O’Grady) passed away on May 2, 2026. Born in Chicago, Margaret—known as Maggie or Meg to her family—was the beloved daughter of Jean and John Francis O’Grady.
Margaret devoted her life to caring for others, both personally and professionally as a nurse. Caring was not just her career—it was who she was at her core. She was selfless, humble, and deeply kind‑hearted, always placing the needs of others before her own without ever seeking recognition. She carried a quiet strength that guided her through life’s challenges and gave comfort to those around her. Margaret loved her family fiercely and unconditionally, and her devotion to them was the center of her life. Her kindness was instinctive, her presence reassuring, and her compassion boundless. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel safe, heard, and loved, and she would do anything for the people she loved and those entrusted to her care. Her loss is heartbreaking, and her family will never be the same without her generous spirit, wise advice, quick‑witted humor, compassion, and unwavering love.
Margaret is survived by her children, Gina Ercoli, Denise Ercoli, and Garry Ercoli; her cherished granddaughters, Nara Bilal and Emani Bilal; her sisters, Amy O’Grady and Josephine Eichele; and many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and John Francis O’Grady, and her sister, Elizabeth Holland.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Benson Family Funeral Home, 3224 W. Montrose Ave., Chicago, with a funeral service at 2:30 p.m.
