Maryana Demska, 44, passed away unexpectedly on June 03, 2026 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. A visitation will be held at Benson Family Funeral Home on Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 4-8 PM. The family welcomes all who knew and loved Maryana to attend.
Maryana was born on June 17, 1981 in Ukraine. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Laboratory Science at Lviv State Medical College before relocating to the United States in 2004. She went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing in 2012 and a Master’s degree in Business in 2017. She spent 12 years dedicated to her work in Clinical Operations at Health Care Service Corporation, where she built close relationships with her team and colleagues.
Maryana is survived by her two children, Anna and Luka; her father; her brother; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends and family knew Maryana to be a very active and energetic person with a lifelong curiosity that presented itself in every aspect of her life. She was an avid runner, participating in many races over the years, and was always pursuing new hobbies and experiences. Recently, she enjoyed taking group dance and tennis lessons, both to learn something new and to connect with other people.
When she wasn’t on the move, Maryana loved to read. At her bedside, there was always a large stack of books, spanning a wide range of topics. One of her many favorites was astrology, which she used to understand herself and the people around her. She enjoyed sharing what she learned with others and had a talent for connecting seemingly unrelated ideas.
To her children, she was a devoted mother and their strongest advocate, someone they could always turn to for support and guidance, who encouraged them to learn, grow, develop goals, and pursue them.
Maryana’s family, friends, and community already feel her absence. She will be deeply missed.
