Victor P. Alvarado, 77, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Born in Santa Mesa, Manila, Philippines, Victor was a proud and dedicated member of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church of Christ.
He was the son of the late U.S. Army Master Sergeant Lorenzo Alvarado, a World War II veteran, U.S. Legion of Merit Medal recipient, and inductee into the Military Intelligence Corps Hall of Fame, and the late Marcela Paano, a Deaconess of the Iglesia Ni Cristo, Church of Christ.
After completing his education at Ramon Avancena High School, Victor pursued vocational training and later embarked on a culinary apprenticeship in Guam. His passion for cuisine led him to work as a chef in renowned fine dining establishments in downtown Chicago, including Le Chateau Swissair Restaurant and Crickets.
Victor is survived by his two sisters, Zenaida Fernandez and Erlinda Olea, and two brothers, retired U.S. Army veterans Lorenzo Alvarado, Jr. and SFC Conrado Alvarado. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bayani Alvarado.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 21, at the Benson Family Funeral Home, located at 3224 West Montrose Ave., Chicago, IL 60618. Following visitation, a procession will lead to Victor's final resting place at the Acacia Park Cemetery.
Victor's warm personality, dedication to his church and passion for culinary arts will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy lives on in the hearts of his loved ones and the many lives he touched.
